Long Time

Wow has it been a long time or what.  I am hoping to keep up with this thing more as I would like to be able to document what is going on in our lives so I/we don't forget all the crazy and wonderful stuff that goes on in our lives.

Our Monster-Where to begin with him, he is now 2 and has hit those terrible 2's I hear about so much.  He want to know what everything is and is always asking- what's that.  He talks up a storm and we understand him about 75% of the time.  He knows all of his colors, animal names & sounds, most of his shapes, can count to 3 and sometimes higher depending on his mood, and we are starting to work on letters.  He loves to repeat people so we have had to be careful what we say around him.  His latest thing he likes to tell people is "I think your nuts!"  He learned that from Finding Nemo which is one of his favorite movies along with Brave, anything Barney, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Little Einsteins and Agent Oso.  He has also learned how old his is, however this number changes often.  The conversation usually goes something like this:

Mom: "Are you 2?"
Monster: "No, I'm 6!"
Mom: No you are 2
Monster: No I'm six, no 8

We can go on like that for a few minutes and it usually switches between 2, 6 & 8.  He keeps us on our toes but we wouldn't trade him for the world.

Lil K is now in 8th grade and enjoys school.  She doesn't like the actual getting up early and getting there but like most teenage girls she likes the social aspect of school.  She is in the band and also has taken choir since starting school at the junior high.  I think she enjoys both.  This spring she is going to be playing softball and is going to try out lacrosse also.  She makes us laugh everyday with her stories from school.  We are extremely lucky to have her in our home and glad she is part of our family.

Kenny is busy with work.  He is back in the mortgage business working as a processor at one of the local credit unions.  He enjoys his work and his co-workers.  He is also enjoying the short commute.  For most of our marriage he has always had to commute an average of 30 min each way and now he is only a few blocks away.  It's so nice to have him home early and I know the kids enjoy it as well.  We take up most of his time, but if he had some free time he would love to hit the golf course and take a few martial arts classes.

I still work at our local newspaper, but not full time.  I am back in school getting my degree in elementary education.  I made it through one full semester and decided it wasn't so bad and I wasn't even the oldest student in class :).  Between work, school, kids & a husband they keep me pretty busy.

Kenny and I also became property managers for 10 properties through the valley.  We enjoy doing that and thankfully we have great renters in all of our properties that don't give us too much grief.  We didn't really know what to expect when we became property managers but we really enjoy it and I feel we have a good system in place.  So if anyone is looking for a property manager give us a call.  We love to help out where we can.

That's a quick update on us lately.  I hope everyone is doing well, if anyone still reads this, that is.

Halloween 2010

Halloween was so much fun this year with Kels.  We carved pumpkins and went trick or treating.  Kels decided she wanted to dress up as a baby this year, I think it was because she wanted a reason to wear her pajamas to school.  We all carved a pumpkin and Kels didn't think it was nice to leave Mason out so she painted a pumpkin with his name on it.  Halloween was on Sunday this year and since we live in Utah everyone goes trick or treating on Saturday.  The plan had been for me to stay home and hand out candy while Kenny took Kels and her friend Sarah trick or treating around the neighborhood.  Earlier that day I had started to have contractions, nothing strong or consistent but they were beginning none the less.  Kenny decided I needed to go with them to see if I could help the contractions along and so I went waddling along, with the help of Kenny, behind 2 very energetic 11 year olds.  They received so much candy, mostly because it had snowed earlier so there were fewer kids then usual and people were giving handfuls of candy instead of the just one to each child.  Why didn't people do this when I was their age.  The walking got my contractions coming every 6 to 8 min but when we got home and I put my feet up the contractions stopped, so we surveyed Kelsey's candy and watched a movie.  It was a great end to a fun Halloween Saturday.

Mason's 1st Hair Cut

We finally had to cut Mason's hair. It was starting to fall out and leaving weird patches of thick hair. I knew it needed to be done, but was sad because I had to except that his hair had fallen out. Kenny cut it at home. We put him in his bumbo chair, got out the clippers and cut away. I am very happy with the results and now his hair has started growing in evenly.

Thanksgiving

This year we spent Thanksgiving with the Larsen family. My food assignment was yams. I have never made yams so I was a little nervous. But never fear my wonderful mother came to my rescue and taught me how to make wonderful mashed yams. They were so tasty and of course I forgot to take a pictures. Thanks mom, I couldn't have done such a good job without you. There are so many of us in the Larsen family that we rented 2 rooms at a convention type center called My Noah's in Lindon. It was so fun to have everyone together and enjoy a wonderful Thanksgiving meal.

We have a family tradition of going up and staying in hotel the weekend after Thanksgiving. We got see the Lights at Temple Square, draw names for who we are buying Christmas Gifts for in our family, see a movie, shop and play games. I think this is one of my favorite family traditions that we have. Friday we always go to dinner and see the lights. This year we had dinner at the Lion House, it was pretty good, but not my all time favorite. Kenny and I did not go see the lights because it got really cold as soon as the sun went down and we didn't want Mason out in the cold longer than he had to be. My family was great and took Kels with them so she could enjoy the lights. The next morning we wen to the movies and saw Tangled. I loved the movie! It was so cute. Mason even let me enjoy the entire movie, he was so good. We also enjoyed the BYU/Utah football game, and lots of game playing. It was a great way to end the Thanksgiving Holiday.

Mason all bundled up for the cold.

We had so much fun this Thanksgiving and made us all extremely grateful for all that we have been blessed with. I am extremely grateful for my family and our new little addition, I didn't realize how much he could and would add to our little family. I wouldn't change anything for the world. I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving.

1 Month Old

I know this is late, but better late than never. I can't believe my baby is a month old. The last 4 weeks have flown by. I love being home with him and seeing him change every day. I love watching him grow and learn, but it also makes me a little sad because I love him being my cuddly little lump. He is still kind of a shrimp, he still is wearing all of his newborn clothes and no sign of wearing anything bigger anytime soon. So far he has been a great little eater and sleeper. Since we brought him home he has slept at least 3 hours at a time. I feel extremely lucky to be getting a decent amount of sleep with a newborn. He is starting to recognize mine and Kenny's voices and will try and look in our direction when we are talking. He still has all of his hair which I am so happy about, I didn't want him to loose it. He gets more adorable everyday. I took this picture of him with his monster and I'm going to take one each month to show how big he is getting each month. I'm so thankful to have this little guy in our family, each day just gets better and better. Enjoy some of his one month pictures.

I just loved his face in this picture. He looks so surprised by his monster.
